From what i have understood from doctors my son has seen 18 is pretty common age. My son was diagnosed at 10 with papillary thyroid cancer he is now 13. But his case is extensive by the time we found it not only was it in his thyroid, it was in the lymph nodes and in all lobes of his lungs.

I know it's scarey, but I am sure that you will do fine. We will keep you in our prayers!!! Yes, although no cancer is good to have....out of all the thyroid cancer's papillary is the best one to have since it's the easiest to get into remission. And the later in age that you are diagnosed with it the less chance of reoccurance you have.

I think it might actually be the earlier in age you're diagnosed, the less chance of recurrence there is.

It is generally better to get it while young, tho I am very sorry your son ended up getting it as a child! I hope all is well.
