Adice for radioactive Iodine therapy

I'm going to be getting radioactive iodine therapy treatment soon. I know I have to stay in the hospital for a few days. Does anyone have any advice?

I gets very boring in the hospital. My room had a TV and a window. Here is a list of things to bring. Remember whatever you bring you have to leave.

1. Magazines
2. Book
3. Puzzles
4. Newspaper
5. Bottle water/gatorade (this will help get all the radiation out so you can go home)
6. Sour candy (this will help your taste buds)
7. List of phone numbers (you can make calls from the hospital)

I only had to stay for 24 hours (overnight.) It wasn't that bad.

I was given 100.3 MCi of I-131

I just finished my RID treatment. Yesterday I had my scan. Anyone who has gone through it knows what fun it is. I had alot of trouble with the diet because I'm not a huge vegstable fan. Part way through the first week I started feeling the effects. I was on the diet for 17 days. Then when I went for the radiation iodine they told me I had to stay on the diet for another 48 hrs. Those were the hardest days. Truthfully every time i had to eat i dreaded it. the food started turning in my stomach. I do realize it would have been slightly easier had I liked veggies and cooking. At the moment I cant even stomach MRS Dash. Here in Vegas the RID was done as an outpatient treatment. I only had one real effect from the treatment. My legs would cramp up at all times of the day and night for hrs at a time. Almost like a charlie horse but not as bad. They would just twitich alot them tighten up and then relax and start again. Now that I had the treatment and the scan I find I am really tired. Guess my body has been really drained. I wont know the results of the scan till the 18th when I get to see the Endo dr again. I did start my hormones last night. So we will see how that goes. Glad I was able to do the diet at this time of the year though, cause I ate  alot of fruit.
