The waiting game

The waiting game

Postby momoftwo » Sun Jul 19, 2009 2:58 am

Hi,

I was diagnosed in May 2009 for papillary cancer, had my thyroid removed in June and I am now doing the low iodine diet in preparation of my iodine treatment at the end of July. I am doing well physically, but I must say that the waiting from the time when I had to get my biopsy results, then the surgery, doing this diet and the wait for the iodine treatment has been so stressful.

My prognosis is excellent, but it has been one huge emotional roller coaster! I tell myself to be patient and all will fall into place but boy is it easier said than done. The worrying and the waiting is starting to take its toll emotionally...I look foward to the day my doctor tells me I am cancer free and move on with my life!

I can really understand what you are going through. I feel exactly the same. The waiting is so hard and emotional. One minute I am laughing, the next I am crying. I am waiting for my surgery which is in 2 days. I am scared but I just want to get it over with. It is the anticipation and wondering. Hang in there. My prayers are with you.

Thank you. My surgery went very well. I didn't lose my voice and I could start eating solids the next day. I will pray that it will be the same for you.

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. You'll be in my prayers. You are right, anticipation is very hard but you are almost there :)
