Greetings, I have been dealing with thyroid issues for 18 years. We were told just keep taking your synthroid and you'll be fine. Started having choking issues over a year ago - was told nodules were not the cause. I finally found a good dr. in Salem and he did a biopsy on Monday and I am waiting for the results. My question is - where do I go about finding the best dr. if these results come back positive for cancer. Quite frankly, this endroncologist made me think that is what we will find - just the way he acted. I don't want to see just general surgeon..they are way too eager to cut. I live in Roanoke, Va and am willing to travel, if necessary.

Try a medical school hospital. Medical schools tend to have top surgeons and most up-to-date medical standard of care. They are also scrutinized closely within the medical community. They won’t be cutting on you just to make a buck…actually for thyroid surgery it would be thousands of bucks. I would recommend an otolaryngologist. They specialize in the neck. Good luck.
