Hospital stay for radiation

Hospital stay for radiation

Postby Butterfly » Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:35 am

I'll be going for my radiation in about 6 weeks. My thyroid surgery is in two weeks. I'm required to stay at the hospital for at least one day during the radiation. Is this common? Can I really radiate others? What about my cat!?!

I stayed at the hospital for 2 days (only one night). I was admitted around 10am, got my radiation pill around noon then the following day around 1pm I left. The hospital had this machine that would measure the radiation levels. When I hit a safe level they sent me home. I still couldn't get closed to people or animals for 8 more days. I had to sleep in the guest room away from my wife and dog. It's not that bad.....though it gets very boring in the hospital.
